The 30/60/90 that actually works:
Days 1–30: Absorb, don't perform. Learn names, systems, and — most underrated — the map of who knows what. Ask every question now; the license to be clueless expires around week six. Take notes visibly. Ship something tiny in week one if you can (a docs fix counts): it breaks the seal.
Days 31–60: Own something small end-to-end. Not the biggest task — the most VISIBLE reliable one. Reputations form on 'gives updates before being asked' and 'finishes what they start', not brilliance.
Days 61–90: Find one real friction — a flaky process, a manual step everyone tolerates — and fix or document it. This transitions you from 'learning the ropes' to 'making us better' in your manager's head.
Throughout: 15 minutes weekly with your manager on 'am I focused on the right things?' — course-correcting monthly beats discovering misalignment at review time. And write down every win as it happens; you'll need the list at appraisal and your memory will have deleted it.
